Taming the Hard-Hitting Forty-Five with Radial Delayed Engineering

When CMMG introduced the MkG platform, they solved one of the oldest engineering hurdles facing large-caliber pistol caliber carbines (PCCs). Traditional .45 ACP rifles rely on standard direct-blowback systems, which require an incredibly heavy bolt and a stiff buffer spring to safely handle the cartridge's pressure. This conventional setup results in a harsh, jarring recoil impulse and a heavy overall firearm. CMMG completely bypassed this limitation by scaling down rifle technology to create their patented Radial Delayed Blowback system. The MkG bolt features specially chamfered locking lugs that rotate and unlock using the cartridge's gas pressure, significantly delaying the slide opening. This mechanical delay allows CMMG to use a vastly lighter bolt assembly, resulting in a smooth-shooting, low-recoil carbine that is incredibly flat on follow-up shots. Optimized to feed from ultra-reliable Glock-pattern magazine geometry, the MkG-45 stands as a masterclass in modern tactical carbine adaptation.
